Carole will demonstrate a variety of techniques to help you to see and draw more accurately, to master shading techniques and create textures…and much more. All set amidst the historic surroundings of Flatford Mill.

It will include sketching buildings, boats and beach scenes as well as quick people studies and a “how to” on perspective – all the skills required to improve your observation and drawing technique and the perfect way to fill your sketchbook. We will mostly be working outdoors, weather permitting.

In this short course Carole will introduce you to pen & wash techniques. Pen and Wash (an ink drawing with watercolours added) is a delightful medium for quick, loose sketchbook studies or for paintings that require a lot more detail.

Building up a sketchbook and working “en plein air” is good way of improving your drawing technique. For this day of drawing outside, we have the use of a garden in Dunwich, which is adjacent to the abbey ruins and also close to the beach.

This is an exciting opportunity to visit and sketch this historic 16th century house and its beautiful gardens. We will also learn about the life and work of Cedric Morris and Lett Haines. Suitable for all abilities
