About the event
Portraits are a fascinating and challenging subject but one which is thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying.
Carole will demystify the process of capturing a likeness by leading you through several exercises using pencil and charcoal aiming to improve accuracy, whilst studying the features, looking at facial proportions, the form of the head and comparing adults and children’s faces.
Demonstrations of how to mix flesh tones, add shading; make hair and clothing look realistic, and how to paint a background will be done in watercolour and/or soft pastels.
We will be working from photographs so please bring your own reference - top tip: please use as good a quality photo as possible, and one not showing a broad grin that exposes all the teeth as a toothy grin can end up looking a little menacing in a portrait.
This course is suitable for beginners or improvers.
Courses cost £195 for the two days inclusive of a light lunch and tea and coffee.
Location: The art studio is in Victoria Road, Aldeburgh with parking available in the adjacent Aldeburgh Church Car Park
The course size is limited to six so BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.
