About the event

Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist, this course will give you invaluable tips, tricks and techniques to improve all your drawings.

"Drawing is the basis of art. A bad painter cannot draw, but one who draws well can always paint". Gorky

That’s what this workshop is all about – helping you to improve your drawing technique so you can create better paintings.

Using graphite pencil, charcoal and pen we will do several exercises to help you draw more accurately, learn how to add convincing shading by hatching and cross hatching, use charcoal for a tonal study, and then pen & ink to do a study of texture and form. We will also look at the basic rules of perspective to help you draw buildings more realistically.

For the rest of the day you can work from still life objects(shells, fruit etc) or do a drawing from your own choice of subject or photos.

Working in a variety of drawing mediums including: pencil, pen, charcoal, water soluble, coloured and pastel pencils
