Experiment with brush technique: employing a wide variety of marks and effects using watercolour or acrylic brushes of different sizes. Follow Carole in a set of helpful exercises and then work on a painting of your choice using as many different brushes as possible!

About the event

For the first workshop of 2024, Carole will encourage you to experiment with a wide range of brush techniques and types of brushes; examining the wide variety of marks and effects you can achieve using watercolour and or acrylic brushes. You can choose to work in acrylic or watercolour or have a go at both.

For watercolours, Carole will show you how to create washes and a variety of marks with flats, riggers, mops, a dagger, a swordliner and a fan or hake.

For acrylics she will outline the difference between synthetic and hog brushes in all shapes and sizes, and you can have a go at scumbling, splattering, impasto work and more...

After working through some basic brush exercises with Carole, you can spend the rest of the afternoon working on a painting of your choice in either watercolour or acrylic, but your challenge will be to use as…
