About the event

For the first Trimley St Martin workshop of 2024, Carole will encourage you to experiment with a wide range of brush techniques and types of brushes; examining the wide variety of marks and effects you can achieve using watercolour and or acrylic brushes. You can choose to work in acrylic or watercolour or have a go at both.

For watercolours, Carole will show you how to create washes and a variety of marks with flats, riggers, mops, a dagger, a swordliner and a fan or hake.

For acrylics she will outline the difference between synthetic and hog brushes in all shapes and sizes, and you can have a go at scumbling, splattering, impasto work and more...

After working through some basic brush exercises with Carole, you can spend the rest of the afternoon working on a painting of your choice in either watercolour or acrylic, but your challenge will be to use as many different brushes and techniques as possible!

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own packed lunch
